Nature on the doorstp

December 9th, 2025

One of the things I appreciate most about where I live is the balance between nature and city life. Adelaide has a way of giving you both without compromise. I can enjoy the convenience of being close to the city, while also having the peace and quiet of bushland right on my doorstep. It is the kind of lifestyle that makes you slow down a little, breathe more deeply and remember how I am.

Being able to walk from home into the Morialta Conservation Park still feels special. Sometimes I walk from home, other times I drive into Morialta and do a longer, harder hike. Either way the moment I pass though the gates the noise of the everyday drops away and it is replaced with bird calls, the rustle of the trees and the occasional kangaroo or koala keeping an eye on me. The tracks wind through gullies, over creeks and up to lookouts that give you views you never quite get used to, even after dozens of visits.

Hiking there has become one of my favourite ways to start the day or reset in the afternoon. It is close enough to feel effortless, yet immersive enough to make you feel like you have properly stepped into nature. Living in a place where I can wander out the front door and be surrounded by cliffs, waterfalls and native bushland within minutes is something I never take for granted.

It is a simple joy, but one that shapes how I live, work and stay grounded.
